The 12 Palaces of Doushu Astrology 紫微斗數十二宮

🌻 The Life Chart

The Doushu Astrology Life Chart is a large rectangular box divided into 12 smaller boxes, each of which is called a palace or terra. Stars are placed in each palace according to a person's date of birth.

🏰 The 12 Palaces

The stars in each of the palaces on the Life Chart represent a specific aspect of a person's life.

↪️ 12 Palaces Sequence and Number

The 12 palaces follow a fixed sequence and rotate counterclockwise on the Life Chart. This sequence is the same for everyone. Each palace is assigned a number, beginning with 1 (the Life Palace) and ending with 12 (the Parent Palace). The starting point of the Life Palace varies according to a person's date of birth.

🛞 The 12 Palace Sequence:
🌱 1. Life → 2. Sibling → 3. Spouse → 4. Child →  5. Wealth → 6. Health 7. Journey → 8. Friend →  9. Career → 10. Home → 11. Fortune → 12. Parent.

🌻 1. Life Palace 命宮

The Life Palace is the most important palace among the 12 palaces. The stars in your Life Palace represent the self—your inner self, innate abilities, core personality, behavior, physical appearance, and life experiences. The Manin Stars in your life palaces are your personal stars.

However, your outer self—your personality and behavior when socializing, how you present and express yourself, and how others perceive you—is represented by the stars in your Journey Palace.

If there are no Main Stars in your Life Palace, the two main stars in your journey are your personal stars.

The Wealth Palace represents how your romantic partner or spouse sees you, and it can also reflect your personality. The Health Palace represents your inner feelings and body type. For physical appearance, the Parent Palace must also be considered.

In Doushu Astrology, a palace can encompass multiple aspects, and different palaces may represent similar matters.

🌻 2. Sibling Palace 兄弟宮

In general, the Sibling Palace represents your relationships with family members, as well as the personality and behavior of your mother and/or eldest brother. If the Fire Star is in the Sibling Palace, it suggests that the mother or the eldest brother is hot-tempered. If the Fire Star is in the Home Palace, it indicates that someone in your household is hot-tempered, since the Home Palace represents your home and living environment.

🌻 3. Spouse Palace 夫妻宮

"The Spouse Palace represents the personality, behavior, and appearance of your first spouse, as well as your relationship with them. It also indicates the likelihood of early or late marriage, remaining unmarried, or facing the risk of divorce. When interpreting the Spouse Palace, the Friend Palace must also be considered, since it is the Health Palace of the Spouse Palace. For example, if the To-Wealth Star is in the Friend Palace, the spouse may be chubby. If you want to learn about your spouse's background, observe the Parent Palace, since it is the Home Palace of the Spouse Palace. To learn about your second spouse, observe the Child Palace; for the third spouse, observe the Wealth Palace.

🌻 4. Child Palace 子女宮

The Child Palace primarily symbolizes matters related to your children, such as the number of children you have, the risk of miscarriage, your children's personality, behavior, talents, and your relationship with them. Specifically, the Child Palace represents your eldest son, as well as your sexual activities and sexual ability. The Fortune Palace represents your sexual desire. The Child Palace can also represent romantic relationships with unmarried individuals. If you are remarried, it can also reflect the personality of your second spouse.

For example, if the To-Wealth Star is in the Child Palace, you are likely to have more children. If both the To-Wealth Star and the To-Authority Star are in the Child Palace, you are likely to have at least two children.

🌷13. Prosperity Palace 身宮

The Life Palace represents the first half of a person's life, from birth to around age 35. The Prosperity Palace is the 13th palace, representing the second half of life, typically from age 36 onward.

When interpreting the Life Chart, the Life Palace should always be regarded as the Self, regardless of age—even if the individual is over 35 years old. The Life Palace is considered the most important palace. Many Doushu astrologers regard the Prosperity Palace as insignificant and often disregard it when interpreting the Life Chart.

Note: In Chinese, the Prosperity Palace is referred to as the Body Palace. However, the Body Palace has nothing to do with a person's physical body. To avoid confusion, this website refers to it as the Prosperity Palace.

🌷The Relationship Between the Prosperity Palace and Other Palaces

Since there are only 12 palaces in a person's Life Chart, the location of the Prosperity Palace is shared with one of the 12 palaces. Because of the way the Prosperity Palace is formulated, the location of the Prosperity Palace can only be shared with the following six palaces:
