📜The Language of Doushu Astrology

❤️Core Components of Doushu Astrology

Doushu Astrology is composed of three core components:

🏰 Palaces

Traditionally, the Doushu Astrology Life Chart is depicted as a large rectangular diagram composed of 12 smaller boxes. Depending on the software used or the person drawing the chart, it may also appear as a large square or a circle.

Each small box is called a Palace, and together they form the 12 Palaces of a person’s Life Chart. Each Palace represents a specific life area, including its associated characteristics, personality traits, and fortune (with fortune referring to the events and experiences that unfold in a person’s life).

✨ Stars

The stars located within each of the 12 Palaces represent the characteristic traits of that life area and its fortune. They also describe the characteristics of key people in the person’s life, as well as the relationships between the individual and those people.

🦋 Four Converted Stars

The Converted Stars are among the most influential stars in Doushu Astrology. A Converted Star can alter the nature or expression of a star and often serves as a trigger for events.

🌷Life and 🔮 Fortune

In Doushu Astrology, there is a clear distinction between a person’s Life and Fortune.
🌷Life:  Life is composed of 12 aspects, represented by the 12 Palaces on a person’s Life Chart. These Palaces describe who you are, what you do, and your relationships with others.
🔮 Fortune:  Fortune represents a person’s past, present, and future experiences. Each of the 12 boxes on the chart corresponds to specific periods in life.
🔟Major Fortune: Refers to a person’s fortune over a specific 10-year period.
🎉Annual Fortune: Refers to a person’s fortune for a single year.
🌜Monthly, Daily, and Hourly Fortunes: Shorter-term fortunes can also be interpreted.

🌷 Doushu Astrology Life Chart

In Doushu Astrology, a person’s birth chart is called a Life Chart. It consists of 12 small boxes arranged in a circular pattern within a large square. Each small box is called a Terra or Palace. Stars are placed in the 12 Terras according to a person’s birth details. Click here to generate your Doushu Life Chart.

Traditionally, the 12 Terras were named after the 12 Earthly Branches. Each Earthly Branch is associated with one of the Chinese zodiac animals. This website uses these 12 zodiac animals as the names for each Terra. The positions of the 12 zodiac animals on the chart are fixed and the same for everyone. more ...

🏰 The 12 Terras(location)

The 12 terras are used to refer to locations on the Life Chart.

🏰 Twelve Palaces(12 Aspects of Life)

In Doushu Astrology, a person’s life is divided into twelve aspects, represented by the twelve palaces on the Life Chart. The Life Palace is the first and most important palace on the chart. It represents the self (you), and its location on the chart varies for each person, depending on their birth details. The other palaces follow the Life Palace in a fixed counterclockwise sequence, and this order is the same for everyone. More...

🏰 Prosperity Palace

On the Life Chart, the Life Palace represents the first half of a person’s life, from birth to around age 36. The Prosperity Palace represents the second half, typically beginning at age 37. More...

🌷 Six Relationship Palaces and 🌱 Six Personal Palaces

In Doushu Astrology, the 12 Palaces are divided into two groups:

• 👨🏻‍👩🏻‍👧🏻‍👦🏻The Six Relationship Palaces describe you, the key people in your life, and your relationships with them.
• 🎓The Six Personal Palaces describe your personal matters, such as your possessions and lifestyle.

Six Interior Palaces (You) and Six Exterior Palaces (Other People)

• 🧬The Six Interior Palaces describe personal matters related to you (the self).
• 👨🏻‍👩🏻‍👧🏻‍👦🏻The Six Exterior Palaces describe other people represented on your Life Chart.

🏰 Doushu Astrology Chart Types

Natal Life Chart

The Natal Life Chart represents a person’s core personality traits and the fundamental aspects of their life. It describes relationships with others—such as parents, siblings, romantic partners, and children—as well as career direction, suitable occupations, attitudes toward money, health, and mental well-being.

There are 12 palaces in the Natal Life Chart, and each palace represents a specific aspect of a person’s life.

Major Life Chart

In Doushu Astrology, fortune refers to the events and experiences that unfold throughout a person’s lifetime, such as childhood experiences, school years, career development, marriage, family and social relationships, and health issues.

One Major Fortune spans ten years. There are 12 palaces on the Natal Life Chart, and each palace governs one Major Fortune period.

Each Major Fortune also has its own set of 12 palaces, known as the 12 Major Palaces. Together, these 12 Major Palaces form the Major Life Chart for that specific decade, representing the events and themes experienced during those ten years.

Annual Life Chart

The Annual Life Chart, similar to the Major Life Chart, represents a person’s fortune for a specific year or age, rather than a ten-year period.

Like the Major Fortune, each Annual Fortune has its own 12 palaces. These 12 palaces collectively form the Annual Life Chart.

Monthly, Daily, and Bi-Hourly Life Charts

There are also Monthly, Daily, and Bi-Hourly Life Charts. The underlying concept is the same as that of the Major and Annual Life Charts. However, these charts are generally neglected by astrologers, as they are considered overly detailed and unnecessary for most practical interpretations.

🏰 The Twelve Natal Palaces

The Twelve Natal Palaces is another term for the 12 palaces. However, whenever the word natal is used, it means that only a person’s life is being considered—it does not include the person’s Major Fortune or Annual Fortune.

🔮Twelve Major Fortunes

One Major Fortune represents a person’s fortune for a particular ten-year period. There are 12 palaces on the Life Chart, and each represents one Major Fortune. Thus, there are 12 Major Fortunes in total.

💰 Current Major Fortune

The current Major Fortune refers to the ten-year period a person is currently experiencing.

🏰 Annual Twelve Palaces

🏰 Inner Palace (Self, Target)

When reading the Life Chart, the palace of interest is referred to as the Self Palace. For example, if you want information about your wealth, locate the Wealth Palace on the chart—this becomes the Self Palace. Similarly, if you want information about your spouse, the Spouse Palace becomes the Self Palace.

🏰 Outer Palace

The Outer Palace is located six positions clockwise or counterclockwise from the Self Palace (not including the Self Palace itself).

• 🌷If the Self Palace is the Life Palace, its Outer Palace is the Journey Palace.
• 🌷If the Self Palace is the Wealth Palace, its Outer Palace is the Fortune Palace.
• 🌷If the Self Palace is the Fortune Palace, its Outer Palace is the Wealth Palace.

🪢Six Axes

Each palace on the Life Chart has an Outer Palace. The Six Axes connect each Self Palace to its Outer Palace. When interpreting any palace, it is essential to read it alongside its Outer Palace. The Outer Palace serves as the external representation of the Self Palace: the Self Palace reflects the inner self, and the Outer Palace reflects the outer self.

🪢The Six Axes:

• 🪢Life–Journey Axis (inner self vs. outer expression)
• 🪢Sibling–Friend Axis (family vs. social network)
• 🪢Spouse–Career Axis (partnerships vs. professional life)
• 🪢Child–Home Axis (offspring vs. domestic matters)
• 🪢Wealth–Fortune Axis (resources vs. enjoyment)
• 🪢Health–Parent Axis (well-being vs. family background)

In Doushu terminology, when referring to the two palaces together, such as the Life Palace and the Journey Palace, the term “Life–Journey Axis” is often used.

🏰 Trio Palaces

Each palace has two companion palaces. The Self Palace (the palace of interest), together with its two companions, is referred to as the Trio Palaces. The first companion palace is located four positions clockwise from the Self Palace, and the second companion palace is located four positions counterclockwise from the Self Palace.

For example, if the Self Palace is the Life Palace, the first companion palace is the Career Palace, and the second companion palace is the Wealth Palace. Together, the Life Palace, Career Palace, and Wealth Palace are referred to as the Life Palace Trio.

🏰 Quartet Palaces

The Quartet Palaces consist of the Self Palace, its Outer Palace, and its two Companion Palaces. In other words, the Quartet Palaces are the Trio Palaces plus the Outer Palace of the Self Palace.

For example, if the Self Palace is the Life Palace, its two companion palaces are the Career Palace and the Wealth Palace, together referred to as the Life Palace Trio. The Life Palace Trio, plus the Outer Palace (the Journey Palace) of the Self Palace (Life Palace), forms the Life Palace Quartet.

🏰 Adjacent and Central Palaces

• 🌷Adjacent Palaces are the two palaces next to the Self Palace.
• 🌷Central Palace is the palace that is enclosed by the two adjacent palaces (also known as the Enclosed Palace or Sandwiched Palace). More...

🏰 Empty Palace

A palace with no Main Stars is called an Empty Palace. To analyze an Empty Palace, borrow the Main Stars from its Outer Palace. More...

• Similarly, if the Thinker Star is in the Life Palace, then the Polaris Star will always be in the Parent Palace, and the Sun Star will always be in the Spouse Palace.

The stars and palaces involved in these fixed relationships are called the Absolute Star Formation. Absolute Star Formation.

• If a person’s Life Palace is located in one of these terras, they may need to work harder to succeed.
• However, the validity of these terras is debated, as there are many successful people whose Life Palace is in the Sky Net or Earth Web Terras.

🏰 Covertly Jointed Terras

• 🌺Idle (negative influence)
• 🌺Trapped (strong negative influence)

However, many Doushu astrologers believe that star strength contributes very little to a person’s overall fortune. Therefore, many astrologers do not take it into consideration when reading the Life Chart. What truly matters are star formations and other key factors.

Star formations describe the combinations of stars across different palaces on the Doushu Life Chart. According to Zhong Zhou Doushu Astrology, there are 60 different star formations.  More ...

⏰ Longitude Adjusted Birth Time (LAB-T)

This site uses LAB‑T (Longitude Adjusted Birth Time) to more accurately reflect a person’s true time of birth.
A time zone covers a geographic area, not a single point. Everyone within the same time zone uses the same standard time, but the sun’s position in the sky at any given moment varies by longitude within that zone.

• Example:
• 🌷Suppose a person’s recorded birth time is 9:28 AM PST (Pacific Standard Time, UTC‑8).
• 🌷Their birthplace longitude is 116.5° W, which is 4° west of the standard meridian for PST (112.5° W).
• 🌷Since one degree of longitude equals 4 minutes of time, the adjustment is:
• 🌷4° × 4 minutes = 16 minutes.
• 🌷Therefore, the longitude‑adjusted birth time is:
• 🌷9:12 AM LAB‑T (9:28 AM − 16 minutes = 9:12 AM LAB‑T).
